I watched Malcom X last night for the first time. It was a magnificent film I have to say. Epic. I was partly afraid that it might come off as propaganda, but the final act made a huge difference for me. The change or development of Malcom X was awesome. Denzel Washington has never looked or acted better in any film I've seen him in in my opinion. It was a long film but it got me hooked and inspired for the complete duration. The message was powerful. I think you could also call it lavish, over the top or self-indulgent, but then a person such as Malcom X wouldn't be portrayed so accurately if it were to only focus on one aspect of his life. There was so much more and I feel that every part of the film was necessary to give emotional brevity. Wonderfully shot with an amazing palette of colours in the first act and such stark monochrome in the 2nd act.

I feel so inspired and worthwhile having seen it.
