Mount Shasta
Today I was back to work and off to San Francisco. This was taken towards the end of the flight, after the passengers had eaten and we were waiting to land. I had a couple of minutes to look out the window and sightsee, and I caught this beautiful view of Mount Shasta.
Mount Shasta is in the Cascade Range which runs from southern British Columbia in Canada, through Washington State, Oregon and California in the US. It sits just south of the Oregon and California border and midway between the Pacific Ocean and the Nevada border. It is the 2nd highest mountain in the Cascade range and the 5th highest mountain in California.
Mount Shasta is considered an active volcano, although the last eruption was in 1786. It made up of four overlapping volcanic cones.
Elevation: 14,179 feet (4,322 meters), rising 10,00 feet (3,000 meters) above the surrounding terrain.
