Amococo - The Sziget Luminarium

Sziget has a whole host of other actvities to keep you occupied until the bands are back on stage. This was taken in the Luminarium.

"Architects of Air presents:

Amococo - Luminarium “Architecture for its building is used by people.Painting, for it uses colours and mixtures to create art.Performance, for it’s pointless without its partakers, the visitors. But none of these. One thing it surely is: art.” ByMG

This is the dozenth time Sziget Festival hosts a Luminarium. This year, the 9th Luminarium, going by the name of AMOCOCO, travels all the way from Nottingham (UK) to Budapest to add to the list of great visual sights Sziget Festival’s has to offer. A Luminarium is an 800 square metre inflatable sculpture made up of labyrinthine tunnels and inspiring spacious domes - a sensual world of liquid-light and colour. Wandering around inside causes severe visual experience.

Amococo has already visited us in 2008. It had it’s debut exhibition at Sziget festival, and since then ot has been travelling around the world from Sydney to New York. Architects of Air, based in Nothingham (UK) set sails the same year as Sziget Festival, and since then, their creations were visited by more then 3 000 000 people worldwide.

The Luminarium is hand made of a special, partly translucent plastic that is thinner than 0.5 mm, therefore it’s very sensitive for weight and sharp objects. No shoes, with or without high-heels, and no studded belts, and no bags are allowed inside. Cloakroom provided. AMOCOCO is easily accessible to wheelchair users and those with visual impairment. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors highly under the influence or covered with mud or with paint cannot enter.
