The Tewit Well, Harrogate
Tewit Well, originally known as "Tuit" Well", is a spa water well. It was the first spa water well discovered in Harrogate in 1596.
This grade II listed structure was transferred to its present location at the edge of the stray in around 1842 when it the Royal Pump Room was erected over the original well.
I must confess, for a long time after moving to Harrogate, I thought this was a band stand! Perhaps this was because a local youth brass band, 'The Tewit Youth Band', is named after this landmark.
