Gonna go to the ugly bug ball

This is one seriously ugly looking thing! Almost too good for the Burl Ives song!

During a break in the weather I went out a walked about looking for my daily blip and it was a ghost town - not 1 dragonfly to be seen, no hummingbirds. I could hear cicadas in the trees but it was otherwise quiet and no wildlife to be seen until I saw the above ugly thing and I could have done without that!

Although we still have the hot temperatures, the calendar says fall is here and the squirrels seem to know it. They are getting ready for the winter ahead. Normally pinecones look like this, but most of the ones in my yard look like this! Even a few of the dogwood leavesare beginning to change.

Once I came back inside and had a shower and then stood (no make that sat) at the glass sliding doors for a long time - almost a full half hour - I was able to finally see a hummingbird at the feeder. Not the best shot as taken through the glass but I captured one still the same.

I also saw my trusty Mr Cardinal at the feeder with Mrs Cardinalpatiently sitting nearby waiting her turn at the feeder.
