Actaea Alba
We had a very enjoyable day today visiting two gardens with our U3A Garden Group.
First we visited Nunnington Hall, a National Trust property, with the obligatory coffee and cake, before a tour of the garden with the head gardener.
Then on to Scampston Walled Garden which was re-designed in 1999 by Piet Oudolf and is famous for its prairie style planting. Lots of grasses and herbaceous plants. Lunch first and then a tour with the head gardener.
All in all a very enjoyable day finished off with fish and chips from the local chippy. After all who wants to cook after a good day out?
This Actaea Alba is a plant that I haven't come across before and thought very unusual. If there had been one for sale in their plant centre I'm sure one would have found its way into our garden. It is also known as the 'dolls eye' plant.
