Bamboo counter
My new role will require more time travelling within Cambodia. The broad aim of the project is to maintain the integrity of the watersheds and support the livelihoods of people in four of the provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap lake.
We aim to do this through various activities, one of which is cultivating bamboo for distribution from plant nurseries, as bamboo is a material that has various uses including fence construction and making of handicrafts.
At this nursery in Pursat Province this lady was diligently counting off the number of bamboo seedlings that were moved onto a truck for transportation to a nearby community site, where the bamboo will be planted, which will increase the forested area and be an extra resource for villagers to harvest (let's hope sustainably).
