Juvenile goldcrest

This little chap vies for the Smallest Bird in Britain Award, alongside the firecrest.  Today, it had the tiniest call to match but I heard it, above my head.  Eventually, it dotted out into the sunlight.

Despite having a number of pine trees around, I haven't actually caught sight of one of these since leaving our old house nearly ten years ago.

At the moment, it does look a little dull but its tiny yellow sprouting feathers on the top of its head gave it away.
