Sunday afternoon stroll
The weather was really warm, T and R had taken themselves off to the Dorchester Agricultural Show for the day so N and I took Tess to Wayford Woods for a walk. The wood lies at the bottom of a cul-de-sac, past a few old world dwelling houses, barns and a handful of modern houses where the road becomes a stony track. The wood is divided into two with a small lake uniting both sides at one end and a wet meadow with a stream in the middle. There are many winding paths, undergrowth, interesting specimen trees, indigenous trees and all together a completely unspoilt wild appearance. The woods belong to a trust and there is a donation box for the upkeep. We noticed a path had been dug out of the mud and hardcore put down. This being a basically wet area the winter rains had destroyed areas and made them impassable. Fantastic for children and there were several families there enjoying their surroundings.
