The Rose

My blip on St Valentine's Day had to be one of the red roses I got for my wife!! :)
As far as the photo goes could someone tell me how to get a better depth of field in a close up like this. Is it something I'm doing wrong or do I need to upgrade to a better camera? It was set to super macro. Think the canera details should appear at the bottom of the pic, but it's a Canon Power Shot S3is.
