The Great Send Off
Today in Chester there was huge parade commemorating the centenary of "The Great Send Off" which was when 700 volunteers from the village of Port Sunlight who worked for Lever Bros. the soap manufacturers, arrived on the train at Chester Station to join the Cheshire Regiment in 1914 to fight in WW1.
They marched through the city centre to join up with another parade of the military to march to the Cheshire Regimental museum.
This picture is as they gathered by the station before they set off having a good old sing song of all the old songs
i.e. Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag & Goodbye Dolly etc.
