Breaking free .....
Of Rosina's bedroom which I finished yesterday. This wall has featured in several blips over the past weeks, though usually when it was bare plaster covered in numerous repairs wich actually made it a rather interesting backdrop for my photos. I will miss the wall, but not the task of renovating that bedroom.
Of course, having got one burden out of the way, the gods have seen fit to give me another. Rosina's car broke down on the motorway yesterday afternoon. It lost all coolant, probably due to a burst radiator and she was spewing steam as she cruised to a halt on the hard shoulder. Within minutes the emergency services turned up to ask if hers was the car that was on fire. They checked the car over and satisfied that it wasn't a fire risk departed with the helpful message 'get it off the motorway in 2 hours or we will remove it', for which by the way, they charge £250.
Anyway, long story short, she was recovered by the RAC and was safely home within about an hour and a half of breaking down. Her recovery policy only covered her for 10 miles, so we were charged for the additional mileage, but that was a very respectable £35, far less than I was anticipating.
All I need to do now is get the car fixed. By Wednesday, when she is due back at work. Some chance. It would be easier to go out and buy another car. An option that hasn't passed Rosina by, but if we do go down that route, she is going to have to lower her sights. The cars she is looking at are well outside of the budget that I have in mind. :-)
