Dalton's Pile
I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of another powerhouse of the Industrial Age at Dalton Mills in Keighley today with 4 entertaining & friendly fellow Blippers. (Lovelupins17, Midgeholedave, Fotojunci, & Chrysanthemum - & organised by C) escorted by Steve the Security guard.
The mill was built around 1867 and employed 2000 workers at its height. Its now partially renovated with more progress to follow. The scale of the empty weaving halls impressed me with the overwhelming scale of the vast power and wealth involved in this now deceased manufacturing enterprise.
The pile of wooden roofing slats was formed as they were dropped out of a hatch on the floor directly above as part of the clear up from roofing repairs.
