JASMINE

I always look forward to this time of the year when the pleasant fragrance of the jasmine creeper envelops me as I walk to the garage.
One year we noticed a tail sticking out of the bushy part of the creeper. On closer inspection we could see a large well formed eye looking at us. The mystery was solved when a huge "likkewaan" (iguana) dropped down and scuttled round the corner of the garage swinging its large body from side to side as its claws scrabbled on the hard cement.
Local legend has it that when the likkewaan climbs trees it is going to rain in great abundance.
