Elsholtzia and the bee

This lovely little weed, Elsholtzia ciliata, seems to be a favourite among the bees at our allotment right now.

We spent most of the day at the allotment, mowing the lawn, harvesting blackberries, pruning the privet hedge and cutting down a large climbing rose that unfortunately died this summer, probably damaged during last winter.

Weather was sunny with temperatures around +21°C and almost no wind. Incredibly summery for the season!
