In Transit
We spent most of yesterday travelling, Edinburgh to Heathrow then Heathrow to Beijing. Though the later part if the journey was done mainly overnight neither Margaret or I can sleep very well on planes so we arrived in Beijing fairly shattered. Security took ages to get through and I can see that Chinese bureaucracy and the need to get at least three people to do the job of one is going to be the downside of this trip. We were scheduled to have an easy day in Beijing with nothing particular planned but our guide suggested that we do a bit of sight-seeing on the first day and visited the Temple of Heaven within a couple of hours if our arrival ! The only upside to this
apart from easing our busy schedule over the coming days is that we staggered to bed at about 8.00 pm and slept for ten hours solid so hopefully overcoming our jet lag in one foul swoop.
My blip is of us coming in to land at Heathrow. You can see the river in the background but I am not sure which football stadium this is. The cloud layer was pretty thick so I've had to primp this up a bit for any of it too be recognisable.
