Buzzing
Keswick was buzzing this afternoon as we stopped by to do a couple of things. I know it was Saturday afternoon. I know it was market day. I know it was a lovely sunny day. But I have never known Keswick quite that busy. Perhaps we usually avoid the place until the winter and forgot today.
Anyway, a few miles away there was no one.
The rest of the day we were in Carlisle attending the first ever Literary Festival the city has held – Borderlines. It was good to be a part of such an event. It was well organised, in a fine venue, they had a nice variety of speakers and it appeared to be very well attended. But we were disappointed. We went to listen to Alan Johnson this afternoon and Stuart Maconie this evening, both exceptionally good speakers, both more than capable of keeping an audience informed and entertained for as long as they needed to. But the format they were given was a conversation with someone else. In neither case did this work. Oh well it was worth going!
It’s late now. I will post this and catch everyone tomorrow.
