Saturday Night Fever
Mrs SJR and her friends are out for a bar meal tonight. I gave them a lift down to the town earlier this evening. I’m sure it will be a cup of decaf and a mint after dinner rather than mad disco dancing on a flashing chequered floor.
Caley has scored today on the walk front. The tide is well low again on Laggan Reservoir exposing a hundred acres of flood plain to run around on after his ball. Then early evening he got a quick tramp up Bohuntin Hill. It really is beautiful up there and the low evening light shows up the ancient shore lines with great clarity. The effect only last for a few minutes at this time of year.
I hardly ever listen to a CD these days, and when driving any distance in the car listen to Radio Scotland which tends to be discussion type programs on topical issues of the day. Checking through emails this morning I listened to some Gerry Rafferty stuff on You Tube. City to City is probably my all-time favourite album. When it came out it was absolutely massive in the US album charts, going platinum, and notably displacing Saturday Night Fever from the Number One spot after sitting there for the preceding six months. Some achievement for that “glad to be self-made man”, from Paisley.
His concerts were rare but I was fortunate to see two over a decade apart. When he introduced this song he described it as a cross between a hymn and an Irish folk song. The Ark
