First Canna of the year

Last year I left some Cannas in for the winter, I wondered if with some protection that they would survive and reappear in the spring, it never happened and they were lost.

This plant one of the ones stored in our garage is growing in a pot and stands five to six foot tall.

This winter I am going to leave the rhizomes in the pot and store them inside where they will be safe from frost and damp, hopefully next spring they will all appear intact.
