Lines Of Defence, Aylesford
Day 249 0f 365. The weekend at last. I woke up this morning feeling like an old man - my back was in some kind of spasm and I couldn't stand up straight. So it was an ungainly shuffle to get down to the kitchen to make my first strong coffee of the morning and get my heart started with a punch of caffeine. I still decided to go for my pre-breakfast run and, strangely, midway through it I started to "unfurl" a bit and by the end I was beginning to move much more freely.
Today I decided to go on another of my longish walks with my brother, which always features a couple of stops to revive the spirits with a pint of beer or two. We walked from our village (where today's shot was taken) to the next village along, Eccles, via the skirting of the local quarry and some very brambly fields. It make such a difference being able to get out into the countryside after a week of working in London - by the end of the week I really need to de-clog my brain from the metropolitan speed of the city, from all the hustle, hassle and bustle. I need to hear birdsong and see empty spaces and escape the pollution.
Weirdly today's shot is probably a visual echo of the kind of barriers I see in London all the time.
