THEY ARE A LOT LIKE US

Harbor seals or sea lions or people, who is funnier? Lots of people hate them, and a lot of people love them. Fishermen hate them, because they eat Salmon too, and the do it better. But lots of people love them. This group always has a large group of tourists looking at them. I laugh at both groups. Apparently this dock was built a lot of years ago, for boaters to tie up too, and walk up to the shops. Something I'd like to do. Some time ago the seals claimed the dock, and have been laying on it ever since. People who live near by want them gone, because of the all night barking. The shop owners want them there, because they attract business, and they have started a fund to build them a fancy new dock.
There is a large dock higher up from this one where people can stand and watch. Photo ops are easy. While I watch them fighting for their place on the rotting dock, I have to think about how much their society is just like ours.
