Come In Number Two
Looking across the Lune Estuary from Sunderland Point.
Sunderland Point is a village south of Morecambe, of thirty houses and farms, at the end of a mile long tidal causeway that disappears under water twice a day.
It is a wild and windy place and the houses have flood defences.....
The dog and I set off at low tide to look for blipping potential. We found rabbits, pheasants and a cat all within a few metres of each other, which made the dog very happy. And, we found lots of little boats.
Small facts about a unique place:
In the 18th century, it was the fourth busiest port in England and was deeply involved in slave trading.
In the 19th century it was a thriving seaside resort known as Little Brighton.
