Let the games begin....

I've been waiting for days for the winter olympics to begin. I love the games, but I especially love the stories. Stories about the competitors, about what it took to get them there. Stories about friends and family who support them, and even more about the various countries that are involved. It is probably the best chance to teach geography to people who are watching and tonight they did a great job. Canada is a beautiful country. I have been there several times to Vancouver, British Columbia, Vancouver Island and then on the other side I've been to Quebec, Montreal, Prince Edward Island, New Foundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick. Maybe a few other places, but many, many more I'd like to visit. Montreal is cosmopolitan, Quebec is very European with cobble-stone streets and little lanterns, the islands on the east are rich in the fishing industry and Vancouver Island has it all - beautiful wilderness and British influences. But today it is all about Vancouver, British Columbia and the Olympics. Enjoy.
