Little Dutch house

This is one of my collection of miniature Dutch houses. I have 16 different ones so far. All from Tynemouth market. They were originally given to KLM business class customers. It started in 1952, when the airline wanted to give an incentive to each customer but where not allowed to give out "gifts". They filled these Delft blue miniature houses with Bols (Genever) and claimed that they were merely using the houses to contain the alcoholic beverage to get around this rule! Most of my houses still have the wax on the chimney and if I shake them I can hear the alcohol inside.

All of the houses are based on a real Dutch house. This particular house is number 22 and is modelled on the building "Het Lammeken", which means the little lamb in Dutch (relating to the importation of wool). The real house is in the small town of Veere. It has a steeped gable and was built in 1539. Here is a link to the real building link
