Not everything appears as seen

This is part of a scene depicted on a placard locally. It's where we took our kayak today but the beach is far steeper than depicted, the pebbles are large and the waves were quite rough. We managed to get the kayak to the seashore but decided it was too rough to set off at that point so abandoned for today. We have previously been used to a sandy beach so need to find a suitable alternative.
