Next Summer's Crop

The farmer who owns the field behind the house has been ploughing, preparing and re-preparing the ground for next year's crop. As he passed the back of the house I stopped him and asked what it was going to be. Rape.

Not very good news. Its not that I mind the yellow and the plant itself, its just that the last time he planted rape the house had a serious bee infestation. They seemed to have come from miles around to set up honey factories in our roof space, behind shutters, in chimneys, in fact anywhere they could crawl.

Several visits by the bee man and lots of cheques managed to remove them and fill up the holes they had found. Will it be enough for next summer? We'll see.
