Cattle auction!
This morning we went to a cattle auction in Gracemere. Every friday they sell the livestock here close to the beef capital of Australia. It was quite interesting to see. There were so many animals!
On the picture you see the man on the horse who is driving the cows from one place to another after they were sold.
There was also an arena but unfortunately they didn't use it today as they only use it for bulls (but on other days).
Lots of people with cowboy hats! As a general rule you can say that everyone without a cowboy hat or cap was there as a 'tourist', as a visitor who was curious about what was going on.
After the auction we drove further up North towards Eungella national park. We actually planned to sleep at the platypus bushcamp at the Finch Hatton Gorge... However, it had been raining the whole day already and we ended up standing in front of a flooded road with about 15/20 cm of water. We were looking and thinking and decided to go somewhere else. A local also drove by in his 4x4 and said to us that it would be possible for us to drive through. We shouldn't have problems returning if it continued raining like this but if it started to rain harder.. well we may not be able to return in the morning but we would have to sit it out there... So we turned our campervan around and went somewhere else.
After quite a long journey through all kinds of dirtroads we returned to a place we already drove past and slept at that camping for the night. Still raining...
