Helianthus Annuss (!)

Personally I much prefer Sunflower!

I have had in mind a photograph of these sunflowers for quite a few weeks, but with one thing or another, I just haven't managed to get across to the "pick your own" fruit farm, where they are planted, in a long line, about three deep, until this morning!

When we arrived, I was somewhat disappointed, it was my own fault though, for not finding time a couple of weeks earlier to photograph them at their best! Luckily there were still a few that had most or at least some of their petals in tact!

We decided to treat ourselves to lunch in their farmhouse kitchen, homemade pork pie, piccalilli, salad, and a chunk of freshly baked bread and butter with a cup of tea, in a proper china teapot, with cups and saucers! Afterwards we strolled around the plants section and bought a dwarf lemon rhodedendren, some winter violas, an unusual alpine and some borage for the herb garden.

It has been a beautiful today, sunny and pleasantly warm....so we spent the afternoon and evening in our garden, tending the pots, baskets, window boxes etc etc. They have all been fed watered and dead headed within an inch of their lives, to make up for my lack of care and attention to them over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully they will perk up and give us at least another couple of weeks now! I want them to last until norms sister and her husband come to stay a week Monday :-) Fingers crossed!
