Fraser Island

Today we went to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world with an organised tour.

After we arrived with the ferry (with a little bit of rain, which actually really helped to make all the sand roads easier to travel on) our first stop was central station. We travelled the bumpy roads and part of it as nicknamed "the rollercoaster".

At central station we walked around a bit and saw one of the creeks on the island. We have a picture of it and you can hardly see the water because it's super clear! It's of course so pure because of the purification of the sand. You also don't hear the creek because of the sand. That's why it's also known as the invisible creek and the silent creek.

There were also some nice trees because apparently there are lot of minerals in the sand. We read and heard a bit more about the island here too which was quite nice.

After this stop it was lunch time! Yum yum. After that we were driving over the beach (aka the highway). We drove past the moreno shipwreck to shortly return and get out of the car/bus there. We would first got to the pinnacle which I really liked. It's all made of sand and it's a pretty nice sight.

After that we really stopped at the moreno shipwreck. (Also pictured above on this blip) I missed my own camera there because I really wanted to make my own choices in terms of camera settings and such :( Anyway it was still quite nice to see.

After the shipwreck we stopped at eli creek. A creek with (obviously) very clear water. We walked a short distance inland, entered the water, and drifted back to the beach. Although it was a bit shallow (read: our swimwear was full of sand) it was still nice.

Our last stop would be a bit more on the middle of the island again: Lake McKenzie. Because the lake has the ph-value of your skin, your skin feels really soft when you get out of the water and it feels like you washed your hair with shampoo and conditioner.

After our swim in the lake it was time to return to Australia mainland. We got there just in time for the ferry back :)
