The Heron

I had to go back to Kingston this morning to exchange something I bought a few days ago, and I impulsively decided to go via Bushy Park and see if I could find some stags, maybe even see some of them rutting. As the light was so dull and flat I knew the scenery would not be anything special. But there were no deer! I met two other photographers and they said they had walked around the park all morning and could not find any deer - there was a small herd of Fallow does (as in plural of doe - it does look funny spelt like that!) but no stags. Perhaps the culling of the stags this month has something to do with that?

However, I did find two beautiful Herons, standing quite regally and silently. I could get quite close to this one without it flying off.

With the boys back at school, I am finally going up to London tomorrow with the intention of seeing the ceramic poppies at the Tower of London.
