My Dad
Yes, I am well aware that this is a picture of a deer with a title “My Dad”. However this picture, in my opinion, describes the relationship between my dad and I the best. The house that I grew up in is right next door to the house that he lived in. We grew up with the same valley, same school, and even sometimes the same teachers. My dad grew up with a World War II vet for a father, and a deli worker for a mother. Right after high school, he started to work at MI Windows and Doors, where he still works to this day, 31 years later. When I was little, it seemed to me that my dad didn’t spend much time with me. I was always trying to do things that just never seemed to be good enough. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized why. You see, my grandfather never really liked very young children, then I noticed that neither did my dad, of course this was all after I realized that I don’t get along with young children very well either. About the time that I began hunting and fishing, my dad and I really started to hang out. He taught me to shoot, tie knots, filet a fish, how to drive, and many other things that come in handy to me still today. Now my mom almost loathes how well we actually get along. We now spend time together as friends, each asking advice from the other at times, and doing cool things that some people will never get to do. And yes, he still does give his “fatherly wisdom” whenever I screw up.
