Out of the fog

An unwelcome sight on waking this morning. Fog! Well, thick mist actually, but murky enough to make me slightly anxious about an early drive to Stansted for a flight to Zurich. The M25 was pre-rush hour sluggish, but it was an ok trip. Landed in Switzerland to spend the day driving Volkswagen's new plug-in hybrid car, the Golf GTE.

The launch hotel, perched on a hill above Zurich, is an interestingly eclectic mix of old and new. Some of it dates back to the 18th century, while an arty new wing is in stark contrast but blends surprisingly well. Interesting pieces of art are strategically placed throughout, and I love this inside/outside juxtaposition of two bold sculptures. Cars and culture, what a wonderful mix! Even if it is on a day when early fog was a reminder that autumn is not far off.
