SITTING ON THE GATE

I haven't had the long lens on the camera for some time so I decided to have a wander out in the country with it at lunchtime. I found sparrows, starlings and goldfinches but it wasn't until I got back to the car that I spotted some swallows sitting on a steel gate just behind the car. I was sure they would fly off as soon as I arrived but as you can see, I was in luck. I started off shooting them from a distance and gradually crept closer and closer until I managed to capture this little fellow looking straight at me. For a swallow, this looks huge!
