Ripeness is all

Twenty years ago, when we took our daughter to Australia for the first time, we went on a coach tour that called at The Big Pineapple. She was only five, and was thrilled to bits that she could climb up inside the pineapple and wave to Mummy and Daddy from the top.
The plantation produced so many pineapples that they sold them at a ridiculously cheap price. I thought of that when I saw these today, ready to ripen for a ridiculously cheap price, 65p in Lidl's.
