Studio

After a meeting with Fiachra in Bray, I called into my cousin Pat's studio on the way home. Great to see the accumulation of work, some very strong paintings/studies among it, including some wonderful landscapes, quasi-graphic-storyboard work and nudes (also a reworking of a photo I gave him of our grandfather). Consistency and persistency bear fruit, as we all know. I love the textures of this work, the mucky reality of it, the thingness. Such studios have much in common with building sites, similar paraphernalia (brushes and palette knives/trowels), even occasionally precisely the same tools.
