Messing about
Last week we'd spotted an ad for a dolphin-spotting boat trip, remembered it, and did some further research into a possible day on the water. Eventually we plumped for a 5-hour trip on the Afrikat catamaran and booked online for today.
It meant an early start, to be picked up near our place at 9:00 am for the sailing at 10:00, but it turned out to be well worth getting up for. One of the crew was on the coach with clipboard, coordinating the various pickups at different points before finally hitting the road for Puerto Rico, on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria where we boarded the gorgeous boat. We made our way up the coast, on past Puerto de Mogán, and then moored off a little bay where the promised water activities took place. Carl opted for parasailing and a go on a banana boat, while I settled for a trip on a speed boat to a rather magical spot further up the coast which with different conditions would have involved entry to a sea cave.
The blip shows Carl returning from his banana boat experience, looking quite pleased with himself. Drinks were free throughout the trip, and we were also given a light lunch before heading back to Puerto Rico, where we ended up at 3:00 pm, well satisfied with a fun time on the Atlantic Ocean.
This evening's meal was in OK restaurant, a tiny place not too far from home which has a partly Icelandic menu. The owner was wonderfully friendly, and the food was excellent. A couple of beers rounded off the evening and the day.
