Lamont's Pier

This is the now derelict Lamont's pier that stands just a stones throw from the Ferguson Shipyard that recently made the last f the workforce redundant. This once vibrant stretch of our river is sadly, like those men from the yards mostly redundant.

There is a preferred bidder, the yard needs 100's of thousands of pounds of investment to be competitive and I sincerely hope this can happen. In the turmoil that is Scottish politics at present I wonder what the future holds for such businesses. The Scottish ferry operators opting to have their craft built in Germany and France speaks volumes about why these yards have struggled.

I do not have any political affiliations and do not express my views on such matters , one can only hope that come the impending referendum that the correct decision is made by the people.
