Bridge on the River Wye

I get what's going on here. Just not sure why it's suddenly so popular. I'm sure these weren't here last time we came to Bakewell.

There were literally hundreds on this bridge. I think the people who had put a combo lock (not in shot so stop looking) on there were missing the point though. Were they just going to both forget the number or something ??
