Hands On
And feet on too.
Students, and staff, all back into the thick of it today, kicking off with a meaty branding exercise for the upcoming launch of Stirling's new cycle hire scheme. It's based on the system that was in place down the M8 in Glasgow during the summer's Commonwealth Games, using a subscription and PAYG method to rent out the bikes from stations dotted around the city.
Colleague and fellow blipper HK had arranged for the guys from the local Cycle Hub, who are heavily involved in setting this all up, to drop by this morning with one of the surviving Next Bikes from Glasgow that will be used, so that the group could have a play and have a better idea what they'd be designing for. I think, after the long summer break, it got our students hitting the ground pedalling early on and will be an excellent collaborative project to get their teeth into fro the start of the semester.
And, inevitably, it drew a lot of interest from other staff and students and we couldn't help but set up a bit of a competitive after work time trial on a circuit around the college campus. Feather light carbon framed mountain climber it ain't, but was good thigh-burning fun all the same.
