Wedding party
One of the best things about the wedding was seeing family and friends, and having some time to catch up.
This is my sisters family who live in the depths of Essex and so we don't meet as often as we would like.
We did spend a fair amount of the morning together, as my room was turned into the hair salon! Trying to organise a hairdresser from a long distance was one of the more troublesome challenges of the weekend, as everyone I tried seemed to be on holiday or already booked. I finally found someone, but she needed to start on us at 8am in order to get to an afternoon appointment elsewhere. Her sat nav took her to the end of an overgrown lane with barbed wire across - the north entrance which is now closed!
However all was well in the end.
Another near miss which I didn't witness involved the wedding rings.
About 15mins before the ceremony the photographer thought it would be a good moment to catch an interesting shot, so he asked the best man to produce the rings, which he reluctantly did. He then got the groom to hold his sword so that the rings could be balanced on the pommel. Just as he was about to snatch the shot, the sword somehow rotated, displacing both rings which bounced on the kerb and rolled..... towards a drain cover. As the horrified best man looked on, they rolled to a stop mere inches from a bottomless pit!
I am sure that calmed their nerves!
