The golden tree

This tree, by the rear gate of Benmore Gardens, has turned golden in the week since we last saw it. At the end of a quiet afternoon, it glowed in a biblical fashion among the darker shades of the trees that have not yet reached autumn.

I heard on the news tonight that autumn has now arrived, if you go by the calendar. I don't feel ready for autumn yet, but Benmore Gardens can be spectacular after a warm summer, and the brilliant red leaves I've already seen on a couple of horse chestnuts give promise of a colourful season.
