Safe and Sound at the Seaside
As we woke up after a ‘moving’ night, the sky was all clear and blue. Then you wash the rests of train-fatigue out of your eyes. And after a quick breakfast we both cycled up into the dunes and down to the beach. What a delicious relief to look down over that spendid broad, blue and quiet sea. Some white sails on the horizon, a few beach guests here and there. a couple of people nearer to the sea. The course of the Laguna-canal had changed again. Instead of the old long outstream, a new - and shorter - one has formed itself by a breakthrough-shortcut into the surf. Hightide had just passed for some hours, so the sandbars were full of washed algues, litter, and notably two old Back Gulls. One of them ringed in Stavanger, Norway. Sail Away Forever, You Old Mariners, You never die but just wash away.
Meanwhile I had to catch up with Willemien, walking in front, as you can see, and so we strolled and walked along the rustling surfline. Without wind now, but showing the stormy bad weathers of the past weeks, the surf waves ended in garlands of foam. We felt still a bit shaky, dropped down over 250 miles on this bright shore, so we decided to get our clothes off and have that refreshing sea bath. Fresh indeed, the water temperature has lowered a degree. Back on the balcony with espresso and lunch the sun was still getting hot. What a wonderful day to find ourselves back in our seaside apartment, safe and sound.
