FROGMOUTH

I went into town to meet my fellow retiree for coffee and we compared notes. No, we don't miss work at all; and yes, our time is filled and the leisure of sitting in the garden reading a book for hours on end has not yet come to pass. But yes, we do spend longer hanging the washing out and take more care with the ironing nowadays. It was lovely to see her and when leaving the café we noticed someone being served a delicious looking plate of fish and chips, and vowed to return for lunch next time!

This is an Australian Frogmouth, spotted in the town along with various owls and buzzards, raising money for a bird sanctuary. The photo seems in focus so what has happened to his left eye? It looks as though he is removing a contact lens! In the other photos I took of him his eyes look quite normal, for a Frogmouth anyway.
