FAMILY OLYMPUS
New generation of digital cameras seem to incorporate a multitude of features, including extra in-camera processing.
Today I have used the Photo Story feature to show a camera from my non-digital collection - an original OLYMPUS OM10 35mm SLR.
Launched in 1979 it accepted the full range of OM lenses. The dial on top allowed for the selection of Auto Aperture Priority, B and Manual options, as well as an ASA range from 25-1600. The small plug-in adaptor – visible on the RH side - was available to enable manual control of shutter speed.
Access to self-timer and film winder so easy.
It existed in chrome and black finish versions . . . as you can see I have the chrome version. With a 50mm f1.8 – f16 lens as standard it was a quality camera for a budget price. A real star and beautiful to handle.
Second-hand value seems to be between £35 and £45 UK.
Today I have my E-M10 – it is grand to be back in Family Olympus.
