Fly agaric
Drove to the Scottish Borders today. What a pleasure to take the M6 North instead of the usual mayhem of the M6 South.
We were going to stay a few nights in Peebles on our annual visit to see an old friend. He is 95, lives alone in a lovely bungalow by the River Tweed, drives his car, makes cakes for local charity events and is completely with it. And he is what used to be known as a gentleman.
On our way we stopped for lunch at one of our favourite places. This is the Arboretum and Botanic Garden at Dawyck, just south west of Peebles. It was a perfect late summer day and we spent three hours exploring the special trees and many paths.
Thought we would be a little early for the Fungi season. But we were in luck with perfect examples of InkCaps, Puff Balls and as shown here, Fly Agaric.
Lots of good pictures to show to our friends.
