On Reflection
August is going out with a bang today- not only with an explosion of sunshine and heat but with the annual Festival Fireworks concert this evening in Princes Street Gardens
We strolled through the Gardens this morning, removing cardigans and jackets as the temperature rose, while watching the acoustic preparations for relaying the orchestral music from the Ross Bandstand to the spectators paying to watch the spectacle in the Gardens themselves.
His Lordship and I will watch the show, which celebrates the end of the Festival and Fringe, from the Vennel off Lauriston Place where the residents have their very own street amplifier allowing us to hear the music.
From this vantage point to the south of the castle, we will miss the waterfall fireworks down the north side of the castle rock, but this is a small price to pay for not being trampled underfoot with the mobs gathering in Princes Street.
With the sun we had the reflections, and this blip is of the roof of the Conference Centre reflected in the windows of a building in Conference Square.
