The Last Hurrah #2

Who's the new guy?
It says here his name's Tom.
Has he driven a Ferrari before?
Nope.
Any experience on the track?
Nope.
Driving licence?
Er .. Nope. What's that under your arm?
A booster seat.
Because ..?
Because he's 11 years old and he won't be able to see over the steering wheel without it.
Oh, ok, jolly good. Well that looks fine. Paperwork's all done. Away you go!

And he was off! My Tom drove a Ferrari today. Actually drove it up and down a track and through a chicane of cones. Unbelievable - but true. His lovely aunt and uncle bought him a Supercar Driving Experience for Christmas last year and today we went to Longcross Track in Surrey where he took temporary possession of a bright red Ferrari. It was awesome. The whole thing was brilliantly organised and quite the most exciting thing to ever happen to an 11 year old car fan.

He was also lucky enough to do two passenger laps around the full track circuit in a blue Lamborghini. He went 145 mph! The legs may have been a bit wobbly afterwards, but the smile was huge and the memories will stay with him forever.
