Here's Looking at You!

This American Kestrel certainly had his gaze fixed on me this afternoon.

We took a drive up into the hills on the other side of the river today. Way, way up we came across an open meadow set up with about a dozen picnic tables, a huge grill, cooking implements hung on trees and a metal cupboard containing paper plates and other picnic things. Obviously a place for large groups to come and enjoy the amazing veiws of Lake City and Lake San Cristobal.

We also came across a working gold mine on the way up. You never know what you are going to find in the wilderness.
