Early for the show

Soon crowds will gather,
Architects model figures,
Each must play their part.
Murmured anticipation,
'Til the overture begins.

... We had got some cheap bargain tickets to see Guys and Dolls at Chichester festival theatre. It's quite a distance from where we live and we hadn't been there for many years. Apparently it has recently undergone a mega refit the net effect of which was to squeeze (and I use that word advisedly) and extra row of seats in. Also another theatre, The Minerva has sprung up opposite (in 1989 apparently!) since I was last there .... it really was a long time ago since I last went!

The original theatre was built in the early 60's and still retains that integrity in it's design today .... great thought seems to have been given to angles, light and shadows ...
We got there a bit early so I took a few shots .

One of the things I love about going to see a show is the shared buzz of antcipation in the audience just before things start ... and if it involves music, the sounds of the orchestra tuning up mixed with the general chatter ... magic.

The show was good one the whole and in some parts excellent .... a great evening .... must go again, and not leave such a long gap this time!
