Down in the Dell
A shady slope which was cleared of self-sown saplings and a diseased Horse Chestnut 2 years ago where plants are chosen mainly for shade tolerance. Fantastic space for ferns and hostas. From this view can be seen Pittosporum, Dryopteris Wallichianum, Astilbes and hostas - some in pots and some planted into the slope. Also in there are Artemisia lactiflora, Thalictrum aquilegiafolium, Heuchera Key Lime Pie, Epimedium, Lonicera nitida Baggesen's Gold and Muehlenbeckia. In the spring there are primroses and erythronium. It is still being developed and it's an interesting exercise for a gardener who loves colour to be restricted to a green only palette.
